WhatsApp's parent company Meta has started testing the AI-powered chatbot Meta AI in India. Following the initial phase of restricted trials in the US, Meta is launching another phase of limited testing for the Meta AI-driven chatbot on WhatsApp in several countries, including India.
According to the WABteaInfo report, this feature is available for iOS and Android beta testers who have installed the latest beta version of the app. Meta AI chatbots are designed to integrate suggestions and prompts to facilitate users' interactions with Meta AI directly from the search interface.
WhatsApp is currently deploying Meta AI integration within the search bar for some users in designated countries who have configured their apps in English. In contrast, select users in India now can easily access Meta Chatbot from the top bar of the app and have conversations with the chatbot. For this, users will have to tap on the Meta AI icon from the search bar. After this, users can talk to chatbots like OpenAI's ChatGPT or Google's Gemini.
Let us tell you that the user input given in the search bar is kept private and Meta AI is not disclosed. Topics recommended by Meta AI via the search bar or Meta AI conversations are generated continuously and randomly and are unaffected by user-specific details. It is worth noting that the search bar remains its primary function, allowing users to search chats, messages, media, and contacts within the app.
