Mumbai: On Wednesday, Anuj Thapan, an accused in the Salman Khan home fire case, is said to have committed suicide while in the Mumbai Police’s custody. The relatives of the deceased claimed foul play, despite Mumbai Police classifying the incident as a suicide in a statement.

He was “killed,” according to his family, who are now requesting that a post-mortem be done outside of Mumbai.
The brother of the dead accused, Abhishek Thapan, said that Anuj could not have committed suicide and called for “justice.” Abhishek claimed in a statement to ANI, “Anuj was seized from Sangrur 6-7 days ago by Mumbai Police. We found out via a call that Anuj had killed himself today. He was not the kind to have taken his own life. The cops killed him. Justice is what we want. He was employed as a truck assistant.
The Sarpanch of his village, Manoj Godara, made similar accusations that the accused were only laborers and that his death was “framed as suicide” in addition to his family.
Godara said in an interview with ANI, “This case seems suspect from the start. There was a mother, a sister, and two brothers. Their father is absent. Anuj was a truck driver’s assistant before he was abducted by Mumbai Police without telling the Panchayat. We all know how much security exists when someone is in police custody, therefore, the family wasn’t notified for one or two days.”
Superstar Salman Khan is on one side, while laborers are on the other. He said, “Under duress, they murdered him and staged it as a suicide.
Anuj Thapan, who is suspected of providing the gunmen with weapons, hanged himself inside the lock-up, according to Mumbai Police, who pronounced him dead at the hospital on Wednesday.
He was one of the gun dealers in the star Salman Khan’s firing case outside his home. According to the police, the state CID is looking into Anuj Thapan’s suicide case.
The Sarpanch insisted that Thapan’s corpse be post-mortemed outside of Bombay. “The family is demanding justice,” Godara said. Salman Khan has sway in Mumbai, hence, his post-mortem needs to be conducted outside of this state.
He becomes afraid whenever he hears the word “Bishnoi.”
Rajnish, the uncle of the dead accused, also called for justice, claiming they were only notified of Anuj’s passing by phone call and had no more information.
“Anuj had been seized by cops. Only one day later, we received word over the phone. We found out today that he committed suicide. They hung up the phone when we questioned them about how he died; justice should be served. If he was guilty, the judge ought to have given him some punishment. How could the cops have killed him?” he said.
Two males arrived on a motorcycle early on April 14, shot four bullets outside Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments, and then left. Both of the suspects had bags and wore headgear, according to CCTV evidence. They could also be seen shooting at the actor’s house in the video.
