A sensational incident has come to light in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Here in Khorabar police station area, in-laws brutally killed a woman by beating her for dowry. It is alleged that the in-laws were demanding Rs 200000 cash and a car in dowry from the woman. On the complaint of the deceased's father, the police have registered a case against seven people including the husband under dowry murder and other sections.
Brijlal, who lives in Sahabajganj locality of Shahpur police station area, said that I married my daughter Anjali to Anil, a resident of Aghar village of Khorabar police station area, about two years ago. Whatever dowry demands were made by the in-laws at the time of marriage, I fulfilled it by selling some of my land. Not only this, I also took good care of the wedding guests. There was no complaint from anywhere. When the daughter went to her in-laws' house, after a few days, the in-laws started demanding two lakh rupees in cash and a car. The daughter cited the poor financial condition of her parents and expressed her inability to fulfill this demand. Even after this, the in-laws continued to harass her.
Father made allegations against in-laws
According to the father, the in-laws often did not give food to the daughter. They used to cut off the light of her room. They used to beat her badly if they found any small mistake in work. When this situation became unbearable for the daughter, she told this to her mother on the phone. When I came to know about this, I went to my daughter's in-laws and talked to Samdhi. I told him that my financial condition is not good. It is enough if I arrange for my medicine and food. Now it is not possible to give dowry. But when I did not get any satisfactory answer from them, I took the people of the area and tried to make them understand through the Panchayat, but they were not ready to agree.
The victim's father said that suddenly last night a person from the daughter's in-laws' house informed me that my daughter had died. When I reached the spot, they were preparing for the cremation of the body. The in-laws did not think it appropriate to inform me about this either. Troubled by the beating, the daughter had said many times that these people will beat me to death someday. That is what came true.
What did the SP say?
In this regard, SP City Krishna Kumar Bishnoi said that on the complaint of the deceased's father, a murder case has been registered against seven people including husband Anil, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law. Police is investigating the case on the basis of evidence. Soon all the accused will be arrested.
