Social media users around the world are in for a tough ride as WhatsApp and Instagram, both owned by Meta Platforms, are currently experiencing a global outage. The outage began around 2:00 PM IST on Tuesday, June 18th, 2024 and is presently ongoing.
According to Down Detector, during the outage, users reported problems logging in to both platforms on their web browsers and mobile apps. Sending and receiving messages on WhatsApp was not happening, and even those who managed to log in to Instagram faced limitations on features like photo and video sharing.
Meta has yet to officially disclose the cause of the outage, but it's not the first time the company's platforms have experienced such disruptions.
