PTC News Desk: It has been claimed that WhatsApp is testing voice transcription capability for five languages, including Hindi. The voice-transcribe feature of WhatsApp was initially visible in the beta version of the app for Android 2.24.7.8, and according to a WABetaInfo report, the feature is still under development.
How does this new function operate?
According to the report, WhatsApp will have a new section where users can select from five different languages. According to the source, these languages will be: Hindi, English, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, and Spanish. The application will download a package for the selected language when the user selects a language for voice transcription, enabling transcription. The user's phone, tablet, or PC can process the transcripts locally thanks to the language package. There will be end-to-end encryption on this as well.
Those who would like to view a text message rather than hear the audio recording would find this option helpful. For those who receive an audio in a public setting where they are unable to access it right away, this can be useful. However, by using this feature, you won't need to use headphones or travel to a quiet area to listen to the music.
All you have to do is read the voice message after transcribing it into text of your choosing.
When is the new functionality going to be accessible?
The feature has not yet been formally released. According to the article, five languages would be supported either at launch or through a separate release.
