WhatsApp is testing a call dialer feature in the beta version of the app
WhatsApp, the popular instant-messaging app, continues to focus on improving the user experience. According to WABetaInfo, the beta version of WhatsApp for Android (2.24.13.17) has integrated a new and highly anticipated feature: a call dialer.
Previously, to initiate calls from the WhatsApp app, it was necessary to save the contacts in the phone’s address book, which was inconvenient for those who needed to call people not saved on their devices. The inclusion of the new phone dialer eliminates this barrier, making for a smoother experience.
To access the dialer, you simply have to press a floating button on the calls tab that will display a telephone keypad. This allows users to enter phone numbers directly to make immediate calls, eliminating the need to switch apps or create temporary contacts.
The call dialer also allows you to save dialed numbers as new contacts or add them to existing contacts, streamlining contact management. Additionally, it provides a shortcut to send a message to the entered number, which is useful in situations where a text message is more appropriate than a call.
Currently, the dialer is only available for a select group of users of the beta version of the app, and the official release date for all users has not yet been announced. This gradual rollout allows developers to gather feedback and refine the feature before its general release.
