The police are still in the dark two days after the gruesome murder of Gurmel Ram (80), a social worker and former sarpanch.

Gurmel went on a nighttime walk near the surrounding fields on Friday, the day of the event. His family and other locals began searching for him when he failed to return home. His body was discovered by the side of the road, with multiple stab wounds to his stomach, neck, and chest. They reported the incident to the police right away.
Balwinder Kumar, Gurmel’s son, stated: “My father had no enemies.” He was a previous sarpanch as well as a three-time panchayat member. In addition, he actively worked as a social worker and joined the Nasha Virodhi Front, which opposed drug usage. He devoted his life to promoting public welfare.
Because they were concerned for his family’s safety, Kumar said they had made a plea to the police to find the culprits as quickly as possible.
In response to a question about whether the family intended to postpone the cremation until the suspects were taken into custody, Balwinder stated that the final ceremonies will take place on Wednesday following the arrival of their foreign relatives. He did, however, add that they had also urged the authorities to apprehend the individuals by Wednesday. The family may decide to either postpone the cremation or hold demonstrations to call for justice if the culprits are not caught by then.
According to Sadar police station SHO Sanjeev Kumar, a complaint has been filed against the suspects in accordance with the pertinent IPC sections.
He claimed that because of the crime scene’s remote location, the investigation was difficult. There were no CCTV cameras set up in the vicinity. He did, however, reassure that the individuals were being tracked down by the police using both technological and human intelligence.
