On Android, the WhatsApp channel verification checkmark will soon be updated with a new color. This visual change was spotted by WhatsApp’s current beta feature tracker and suggests it will roll out to all users soon. This makes the checkmark you see in the app similar to the checkmarks you find in Meta’s popular social networking apps Instagram and Facebook.
According to a post from feature tracker WABetaInfo, the new blue checkmark has already been rolled out to testers who have downloaded the latest WhatsApp beta for Android.
WhatsApp’s updated color scheme improves consistency across the company’s apps and makes it easier for users familiar with Facebook and Instagram to see whether the entities involved are real.
Credit redesign checks are currently rolling out to WhatsApp beta testers on Android, but could also be available to iOS testers in the coming days or weeks. Finally, it will be distributed in the stable update channel across all platforms, including WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp Desktop.
Meanwhile, Meta is testing AI integration with WhatsApp’s messaging features. The Meta AI chatbot is designed to allow users to edit text and respond to images.
The platform is also testing a video note mode in the WhatsApp camera as well as an “Imagine Me” feature that uses meta-AI to create personalized images.
