WhatsApp has launched a new feature to ensure user safety. Enhancing the security of group messaging features is the goal of the new functionality. When people are joined to a group on the instant messaging platform, all pertinent information about that group is shown to them. The group’s essential information will all be included in the new context window.

The platform has launched a new group chat card that will allow users to see more facts when they are joined to a group, including who added them, when the group was founded, and what the group is about. This information was revealed by the platform via its WhatsApp channel.

Additionally, WhatsApp released a screenshot of the recently released context pane. The name of the person who added them to the group will be shown in the context box, as per the screenshot. When new entries are contributed by unidentified people, they will display a tilde symbol (~).

A new feature on WhatsApp
The context card provides a ‘Safety tools’ option to report problematic material if a user has been added to a group they do not wish to be a member of. If a user decides they do not want to participate in the chat, they may also click the “Exit group” option.

Aside from this, WhatsApp already offers a function that lets users prevent strangers from joining their groups. Launched in 2019, the option may be found under Settings > Account > Privacy > Groups. By activating the app’s privacy settings, users may stop outsiders from adding them to groups.

If this feature is turned on and someone from outside their contact list attempts to add them, the user will get an offer to join the group. Users have three days from the time they get the invitation to accept it before it expires. Users will only be admitted to the group when they click the “Join Group” button on the invite, which appears as a direct message.
