Thanks to a new feature revealed by the well-known instant messaging service WhatsApp, passengers on the Delhi Metro may now use the app to recharge their metro cards. The Gurugram Rapid Metro is one of the locations in the Delhi NCR where this PeLocal-powered service is accessible.

Users must take the following actions in order to utilize the new feature:

Maintain Contact: Include +91-8624888568 in your phone book.
Open a chat window. Launch WhatsApp and start a conversation using the number you saved.
Start the recharge process: To greet the chatbot, say “hi.”.
Observe the directions: The chatbot will walk users through the recharging procedure step-by-step.
Add Information: Enter the amount to be recharged together with your metro card number.
Select a Payment Option: Choose from payment methods like credit card, debit card, or UPI.
Final Payment: Complete the payment by following the instructions on the screen.
Both Hindi and English are supported languages for the service. Users of iOS and Android may easily access the chatbot by clicking on WhatsApp’s payments section.

According to Ravi Garg, Director of Business Messaging at Meta India, “the introduction of metro pass recharge via WhatsApp will completely transform the daily commuter experience for Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) users.” As stated by ANI, “This integration builds on the success of our previously introduced QR ticketing systems, bringing us one step closer to our goal of simplifying transit for millions of people across the NCR by offering various payment methods to recharge the card.”

With the goal of enhancing consumer convenience, this feature—which was first unveiled for QR ticketing last year—is now accessible in a number of additional cities, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Nagpur, and Pune.
