Ghaziabad: In a deeply disturbing incident, a woman was found sitting by the roadside in a semi-naked condition with torn clothes in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, alleging that she had been forcibly dragged into nearby bushes and brutally assaulted by unidentified miscreants.

The woman is seen sitting on the footpath, recounting her horrific experience to a passerby who inquires about the incident. "Kya hua tha aapke saath, koi galat kaam hua h kya?" (What happened with you? Has anything wrong happened with you?), the passerby asks.

The woman responds, stating that she was kidnapped by a group of men who took her into the bushes, raped her, and then abandoned her on the side of the road.

The Ghaziabad police, however, have approached the matter with caution, citing the woman’s history of similar claims. According to officials, this is not the first time the woman has made such accusations. The police have expressed concerns over her mental health, stating that she has repeatedly reported being assaulted and abandoned in the past, only for investigations to reveal inconsistencies in her statements.

The police have assured that they are looking into the latest claims but have also stressed the need for a careful and thorough investigation, given the woman’s mental health condition.

The incident comes at a time when there is a countrywide protest against the rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar hospital. Elective services in several government hospitals across the city have remained suspended due to the protests.

Earlier in the day, resident doctors arrived at Jantar Mantar at 11 am for the protest, marking their second gathering there after Saturday. Slogans such as, 'Doshi ko saza do' and 'Shauk nahin, majboori hai; ye hartal zaroori hai' echoed at the protest site as major resident doctor associations gathered to demonstrate.

"Not just as a doctor, but as a woman, I often feel unsafe while working. I have to be extra careful during work and constantly think about my safety, often carrying a key or something for protection," Radhika Sharma, a doctor from Lady Hardinge Medical College, said.

"The situation is beyond us... It's a mass movement and we need protection," Sharma said, adding that this fight is very important for the doctors as they are fighting for better working conditions at their workplaces.

On August 9, the body of the postgraduate trainee doctor was found in the seminar hall of state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. A civic volunteer was arrested in connection with the crime the next day. Later, the Calcutta High Court handed over the case to the CBI
