According to an official on Friday, a murder investigation has been opened by the police in Maharashtra’s Thane district after the discovery of a man’s corpse by the side of the road, as reported by news agency PTI.

According to the official, who was providing an update on the Thane crime, PTI was informed that a bystander had notified the police after seeing the corpse in the Ghodpada neighborhood of Bhiwandi on Thursday.
The official said that it seemed the guy, who was around 40 years old, was strangled. According to PTI, the corpse has been submitted for a postmortem.
While providing an update on the Thane incident, the official said that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 103-1 (murder) and 238 (causing loss of evidence).
Man detained in Thane area for intimidating adolescent girl
A 25-year-old male has been taken into custody by police in Maharashtra’s Thane district on charges of molesting a young girl and abusing her parents, an official said on Friday, according to PTI.
Accused According to PTI, Sagar Wagh had been pursuing the 14-year-old since July, even though her parents had asked him to avoid their daughter.
Wagh improperly touched the youngster while she was alone in her Bhiwandi neighborhood on Thursday, according to PTI.
According to the police officer, Wagh shoved the girl’s parents when they came to his house to tell his family about the incident, as PTI reported.
Senior inspector Bharat Kamath of the Narpoli police station said that Wagh was charged by police for sexual harassment, stalking, and intentionally inflicting harm under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Acts, after a complaint from the teen’s mother.
In Thane, a woman was arrested for deceiving a friend of Rs. 8.17 lakh.
A 38-year-old lady from Thane, Maharashtra, has been charged with defrauding her friend of Rs 8.17 lakh under the guise of claiming her father’s life insurance and offering a portion of the proceeds, police said on Friday, according to PTI.
Based on a complaint, the police on Wednesday filed a case at the Vishnunagar police station in Dombivili against the accused, Sonia Suresh Nair, under section 420 (cheating) and other pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code, an official said, as reported by PTI.
According to PTI, Nair reportedly went up to her buddy and told him that her late father had a life insurance policy worth Rs 88 lakh and that the money was locked in a joint bank account she shared with him since it was dormant.
According to the official, the accused offered the complainant a cut of the payment and informed him that she would need to pay Rs 8.17 lakh as part of the activation charge in order to get the policy amount, as reported by PTI.
According to him, the complainant made online payments totaling Rs 8.17 lakh to the accused between July 2023 and January 2024.
He said that further investigation is being done and that no arrests have been made in the matter yet.
