WhatsApp for Android will soon integrate the two-way voice chat functionality of the in-app artificial intelligence chatbot Meta AI. Now, a new report says that the voice mode feature will also include multiple celebrity voices, allowing users to customize their experience when interacting with the chatbot. Additionally, other voices from the US and UK have also been integrated into this feature. In particular, the Meta AI voice mode will be able to speak to users in a human-like manner.
According to a post from WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, celebrity voice information was discovered in WhatsApp’s Android beta version 2.24.19.32. This feature is currently hidden, so users enrolled in the Google Beta program will not be able to see this feature.
A screenshot shared by a feature tracker shows that WhatsApp plans to implement some voices for Meta AI. These sounds are intended to vary in pitch, tonality and accent to provide users with a unique experience. These modes are likely similar to ChatGPT’s existing voice modes, which offer users four different voices.
According to the feature tracker, there are three British-accented voices and two American-accented voices. Details such as gender, pitch and regional accent were not provided. Interestingly, there will also be four celebrity voices. Although the name has not been revealed, it is believed that the person may be an influential or famous person.
This is not a new move for Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp. Last year, the company launched several custom AI chatbots for Messenger based on the personas of influencers, celebrities, and other public figures. The voice options are likely an extension of this project and could also be extended to AI characters.
Additionally, WhatsApp’s AI meta voice mode interface was also revealed in a previous report. When activated, the feature should appear with a bottom screen with “Meta AI” written at the top and a blue circle icon in the middle.
