Moscow, as the center for international cooperation during Russia's BRICS chairmanship, hosted the International Municipal BRICS Forum. Mayors, regional leaders, and businesspeople from 126 countries gathered to discuss partnerships, marking the first time this major platform was held here. BRICS municipalities are enhancing cooperation with each other and future member regions, focusing on accessible infrastructure, digital technologies, and sustainable urban development. Moscow and Beijing's cooperation program extends to 2026, with Moscow sharing best practices with over 150 cities globally. Ahead of the forum, Moscow expanded its partnerships to include Sibu, Philippines, and Iran. Innovative platforms like the Moscow Urban Transport Data Project facilitate data sharing between cities globally. Another key initiative, proposed at last year’s Municipal Forum, is a parliamentary movement for BRICS capitals and metropolises, currently under development by the Moscow City Duma.
