Lucknow: Hamirpur police on Wednesday uncovered the chilling murder of Meenu, allegedly orchestrated by her brother, Dharmendra Yadav.
According to the police, the motive behind the crime stemmed from Dharmendra's deep resentment over Meenu's marriage, which he believed had dishonoured their family. Dharmendra, in exchange for Rs 10 lakh, allegedly conspired with his aides to murder his sister.
Following an investigation, Dharmendra Yadav and his accomplice, Jagmohan alias Kallu, were arrested. Meanwhile, two other suspects, Chatur Singh and Vir Singh, remain at large as the police intensify their search.
SP Hamirpur Deeksha Sharma said that the events unfolded on September 22, when Meenu, her husband Suraj, and their two children were lured into a trap under the pretext of a pilgrimage to Chitrakoot.
"A neighbour, who gained their trust, organised the trip and also invited two accomplices to come along. When they reached Rath in Hamirpur, the attackers turned on the family. While Suraj managed to escape by leaping out of the moving vehicle, Meenu was brutally strangled. Their two children were also attacked and left by the roadside, presumed dead by the assailants, However, both children survived and were later rescued," said Sharma.
"Dharmendra, feeling disgraced by the marriage, harboured animosity towards his sister for over 15 years. Meenu had previously been married in 2002 to Lallu Singh, but her relationship with Suraj led to her elopement. The couple lived in Gujarat for some time before returning to Kanpur, where they resided in a rented home. To execute his sinister plan, Dharmendra recruited Chatur Singh and VirSingh, offering Rs 10 lakh for Meenu's murder. A man named Tribhuwan was placed as a tenant next toMeenu's home, where he gradually gained the family's trust, eventually convincing them to go on a pilgrimage together," said the officer.
