KHARGONE: The half-burnt and decomposed body of a builder from Maharashtra, identified as Kishore Lokre, was found in Madhya Pradesh'sKhargone district, raising suspicions of murder, an official reported on Thursday.
Lokre, a resident of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, was found in a forested area along the Daurwa-Binjalwara road under the Sanawad police station, about 75km from the district headquarters.
"The man seems to have died 10 days back and the body has been bitten by animals as well, according to Sp Meena.
Lokre's family had reported him missing on October 3 at the MiDc Waluj police station in ChhatrapatiSambhajinagar. The initial investigation revealed that Lokre travelled to Mumbai for work on September 17. Instead of returning home, he went to Bhusawal in Jalgaon and then to Omkareshwar in Madhya Pradesh.
The last known location of Lokre's phone was in the Deshgaon area of Khandwa district, Madhya Pradesh, on September 27, after which his phone was switched off. Meena explained that investigations suggested Lokre was strangled to death and his body was later partially burned.
The body was handed over to Lokre's family on Wednesday night. Sanawad police have registered a murder case against unidentified suspects, Police sources mentioned that Lokre had an interest in searching for buried treasures.
