Dhaka (Bangladesh), October 23 (ANI): Protesters in Bangladesh rallied on the roads of Dhaka again, this time against the President Mohammed Shahabuddin. Protesters besieged Banga Bhaban, the presidential palace, demanding the resignation of the President. They also demanded a ban on the Awami League’s student organization, ‘Bangladesh Chhatra League’. Earlier, on October 22, the group that led to the ousting of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced a 5-point demand. As protesters moved from Central Shaheed Park to Banga Bhaban, the army blocked them with barricades. One of the protesters alleged that the President is a crony of Hasina’s authoritarian Govt and must resign immediately. Two months ago, a student-led movement ousted Bangladesh’s PM Sheikh Hasina after weeks of violent protest. After Sheikh Hasina fled to India on August 5, and interim government led by Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus was formed. Mohammed Shahabuddin, natively known as Chuppu, is the 16th President of Bangladesh.
