A woman allegedly killed her husband in Telangana’s Uppal and travelled at least 800 km to dump the body in Karnataka, near Bengaluru, said the police, adding that the woman killed him to take over Rs 8 crore worth of assets.
The police arrested three persons- his wife Niharika, her lover Nikhil and another accused, Ankur, who executed a grisly murder plot for the businessman’s money and travelled across state borders to dispose of the body.
She allegedly killed her husband, businessman Ramesh (55), on October 1, at Uppal after he refused to transfer Rs 8 crore worth of property to her name. Accompanied by the other two accused, she later drove with the body to a coffee estate in Karnataka’s Kodagu district.
How Cops Cracked The Case?
The investigation began three weeks back when the cops found an unidentified, burnt body in a coffee plantation in Karnataka’s Kodagu district. It was a challenging task to identify the charred body.
During the initial probe, the cops scanned CCTV footage and a red car caught their attention, leading to further revelations in the probe. It was registered under the name of Ramesh, whose wife registered a missing complaint. The police contacted their Telangana counterparts for investigation.
As the probe into the murder plot of the businessman progressed, the police suspected the role of his wife. During questioning, she admitted to killing his husband and named other accomplices.
An engineer by profession, the police revealed that she married early, became a mother and divorced later. She was jailed in a financial fraud case in Haryana where she met Ankur, the other accused.
After securing release from jail, she married Ramesh, in a second marriage. At the same time, she was in a relationship with Nikhil. Along with him and other accused Ankur, the woman planned Ramesh’s murder to get his wealth.
