For the past 12 years, Ilya Alpeev has played double bass in one of Moscow's renowned tango orchestras. Alongside the violin, piano, and accordion, the double bass sets the musical tone that drives the dance. According to Alpeev, tango culture resonates deeply with Russians. The numerous performances by tango orchestras across Russia and other countries embody a creative embrace that transcends distance, cultural differences, and even time zones.
