In the early hours of Nov 06, Trump claimed victory in the 2024 US election, declaring an “unprecedented & powerful mandate”. Soon after he declared victorious, a host of world leaders offered their congratulations to Donald Trump. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan called Donald Trump to congratulate him on his victory and spoke very positively about Turkey. Meanwhile, President Erdogan has some high expectations from US President-elect Donald Trump. President Erdogan said that he ‘hoped’ President-elect Donald Trump would work to "stop" ongoing wars. Erdogan sought to reset country’s strained ties with the US by inviting President-elect Donald Trump to Turkey. Trump's election win was welcomed in Turkey, with markets surging and officials hopeful about new US economic policies.
