
Proving his mettle, Donald Trump is set to become President of the United States once again after historic victory. In a move to justify his stand on nationalism, Trump on November 25, said he would impose tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China. Trump earlier stated that he would sign an executive order imposing a 25 per cent tariff on all goods from Mexico and Canada, and an additional 10 per cent on Chinese imports. However, on November 30, Trump demanded that BRICS member countries commit to not creating a new currency or supporting another currency that would replace the US dollar. President- elect Trump through a social media post threatened to impose 100 percent tariffs, if the counterparts challenge the US economy. Following this, he warned the BRICS nations that if they try to replace the US dollar International trade will have to say goodbye to America. However, EAM Jaishankar earlier refuted BRICS currency as a matter of concern stating that he has no plans for the BRICS currency and it’s a national issue
