LIC pensioners held a dharna in Visakhapatnam to demand resolution to their long-standing grievances, which included, among other things, an increase in ex gratia for pre-1986 retirees, a uniform DA for all pensioners, a revision of the Mediclaim plan, and an update of pensions resulting from pay adjustments.

The demonstration, which is organized under the auspices of the Insurance Corporation Retired Employees’ Association (ICREA), aims to draw the management’s attention to a number of retirees’ concerns that have been unresolved for a considerable amount of time.
The pensioners, accompanied by an ICREA delegation, met with Sarada Prasad Dash, senior DM of the LIC, and presented him with a list of issues addressed to the CEO and managing director of the LIC of India. They also raised slogans criticizing the management’s and governments’ attitudes and asked him to take action to address the issues.
During the dharna, a resolution was also raised and sent to the Union Finance Minister, demanding a thirty percent family pension for public sector general insurance pensioners. Among those in attendance were G Vara Prasad, general secretary of ICEU; former MLC and association member M V Sarma; former president N Krishna Murthy; and general secretary BB Ganesh.
