A Delhi-based man made a daring decision to fulfil his dream of attending Maha Kumbh – one of the most significant Hindu religious gatherings – by planning a robbery at three houses in the national capital. The accused, Arvind alias Bhola, stole expensive items and jewellery in the South West district of Rajpur on January 17, NDTV reported. During police interrogation, the accused revealed that he and his friends wanted to attend the 45-day Maha Kumbh. Bhola shared that his father is a labourer, his mother is employed as a housemaid, and he has seven siblings, making it difficult for the family to afford travel expenses.
Arvind, according to the report, has a long history of run-ins with the law, with 16 cases of theft and burglary filed against him. His first arrest occurred in 2020, the publication revealed. Struggling with poverty, Arvind reportedly resorted to stealing, which was also linked to supporting his drug addiction.
Maha Kumbh Mela 2025
The highly anticipated Maha Kumbh Mela began on January 13, 2025. The main rituals of the Kumbh Mela take place at the Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers, where devotees gather to take a holy dip. The festival is renowned for its spiritual significance, with special emphasis on the Shahi Snan, or royal baths. The Amrit Snan is considered the main attraction of the Maha Kumbh Mela. During this ritual, the Naga Sadhus are the first to take the sacred bath. This age-old custom holds immense spiritual importance.-
