There was a major obstacle in digital payment in India, as users faced problems in UPI transactions. Popular platforms such as PhonePe and Paytm stopped working, unable to meet many people. Outage created disappointment among users who depend on these apps for daily transactions.
“NPCI faced technical problems in between, which led to a partial decline in the UPI. Now it has been fixed and the system is stable. Sorry for inconvenience,” said the government-owned retail payment and settlement system operator, National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI).
According to the dowdatector, around 2,750 users reported problems in UPI transactions by 7:50 pm. Additionally, according to the website, 296 Google Pay users also faced problems.
Banking services were also affected, in which SBI faced fund transfer failures (47 percent), mobile banking problems (37 percent) and online banking disruption (16 percent). Overall, 84 percent of the complaints to UPI were about the failure of payment.
Many users shared their problems with Google Pay and PhonePe on social media, and asked if other people were facing similar technical problems.
