The country's largest street food festival concluded on a cheerful note recently at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi. Over the course of three days, Delhiites enjoyed a wide variety of street food prepared by vendors from across the country. Organised annually by the country's largest organisation working for the rights of street vendors National Association of Street Vendors of India ( NASVI ), the festival showcased a variety of street vendors, hawkers, and food cart owners across the country celebrating the Silver Jubilee of their progress with NASVI. More than 500 street food vendors from 27 states and union territories participated, offering over 500 delicacies at the festival.
The formal inauguration took place on Friday evening by the Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The Street Food Festival is a perfect blend of taste, entertainment, and art - which is enjoyed and appreciated by Delhiites as well as Indian and foreign tourists visiting the city. Sangeeta Singh, Head of the Street Food Festival, India, shared, "This is a unique celebration where we bring the true flavours of Indian street food to Delhi through the vibrant community of street food vendors who are true carriers of India's living food culture. It is an effort to bring diversity on one platform, creating a colourful fusion of taste, music, joy, entertainment, and warmth."
Arbind Singh, National Coordinator, National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) said, "I am very delighted to announce the 15th National Street Food Festival which has helped popularise the street food culture in India along with furthering the rights of street vendors.
