In this case a social media user operating under the handle ‘Mom Little King’ and named Prasanna Sadeesh on X shared a heartbreaking story. Claiming to be a fan the user posted a photo of his ‘mom’ narrating that she had cared for him and his younger sister all their lives. The scammer tagged GV Prakash Kumar asking for help to perform her last rites. How did the scam unfold? When Prakash initially didn’t respond to the first plea at 11:12 AM on December 25 the scammer tagged him again at 1:59 PM urging for help. Believing the story Prakash asked for the GPay number and sent Rs 20000 at 2:28 PM even attaching a screenshot of the transaction. The scammer replied with thanks making the interaction appear authentic. It didn’t take long for social media users to realize that the actor had been duped. Comments began pouring in warning him that he had fallen for a scam. One user shared that they themselves had been tricked into sending Rs 1000 while others cautioned GV Prakash Kumar to verify such requests in the future.
