Dhruv Jurel slams maiden List A hundred with breathtaking knock in Vijay Hazare Trophy

NEW DELHI: India’s dependable right hand batter Dhruv Jurel continued his sublime run in the Vijay Hazare Trophy with a blistering century against Baroda at Rajkot, further cementing his growing reputation in domestic cricket.

Jurel tears into attack

Batting first, Uttar Pradesh found their anchor and aggressor in Jurel when he walked out at number three and immediately took control of the innings.

Showing remarkable composure early on, he steadily built his knock before unleashing a fierce assault on the bowlers with clean striking and confident strokeplay.

Jurel remained unbeaten till the final over, producing a magnificent 160 not out off just 101 deliveries. His innings was laced with 15 fours and 8 sixes, as he dominated the attack and guided Uttar Pradesh to an imposing total of 369 for 7 in their 50 overs.

The century was a continuation of Jurel’s outstanding form in the competition. He began the tournament with 80 off 61 balls in the first match, followed it up with 67 off 57 deliveries in the second outing and then elevated his performance with this explosive unbeaten century in the third game.

Jurel also found strong support from captain Rinku Singh, who played a composed yet impactful knock of 63, while opener Abhishek Goswami set the tone at the top with a handy 51.

For the bowlers, Raj Limbani was the standout with four wickets, while Aryan Chawra picked up two. Despite those contributions, it was a demanding outing for the bowling unit as Jurel’s brilliance remained the defining feature of the contest.
