After a promising start at the box office, Dhanush-starrer Kuberaa has witnessed a steep decline in its second weekend. The film collected just Rs. 12 crore over the second weekend in India, bringing its domestic gross to Rs. 91.50 crore. Overseas markets have contributed another Rs. 30 crore (USD 3.5 million), pushing the film’s worldwide total to approximately Rs. 122 crore.
Sharp Drop After Strong Start
Kuberaa had a solid first-week gross of Rs. 79.25 crore in India, raising hopes for a much-needed hit for the Telugu film industry. However, the film began to slide on Monday, with further drops through the weekdays. Although the second weekend showed some signs of stabilisation, the earlier damage had already significantly dented its momentum. What initially looked like a potential Rs. 150 crore+ grosser is now expected to close just above Rs. 125 crore worldwide.
Poor Performance in Tamil Nadu
A major letdown for Kuberaa has been its performance in Tamil Nadu, where the film is expected to wrap up under Rs. 20 crore — a disappointing figure considering Dhanush’s strong fan base in the region. On the other hand, Telugu states (AP/TS) have performed relatively better, contributing Rs. 57.25 crore, but even this could have been higher given the strong first weekend.
