During the second Test between England and India at Birmingham's Edgbaston, Brydon Carse picked up a wicket with a clever back-of-length ball. The ball rose sharply and caught the glove of Karun Nair, travelling comfortably into the hands of Harry Brook at second slip, who took a simple catch. It was a crucial wicket for England as they wished to contain India during this 2025 Test series encounter.
Watch here:
Karun Nair got a great chance as he was pushed to the number 3 spot for India in this Test. Having been unsuccessful in the first match batting at number 6, he was far improved this time. He played some excellent shots and marked a steady 31, forming a good partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal.
The pair kept the runs flowing and put the pressure back on England. But just when Karun was poised, he again let slip an opportunity to make a substantial score. After waiting for eight long years for a recall to the Tests, here was a golden opportunity to seal his berth wasted again.
Carse Strikes Late After India’s Solid Start
India wouldn’t be too upset with how the morning went after being asked to bat first. Chris Woakes was superb with the new ball and created lots of problems for the batsmen. He was sharp and accurate, coming back well after a bad show at Leeds. After Woakes was removed, the pressure reduced as the other bowlers could not maintain tightness.
Josh Tongue leaked runs at a high pace, and Jaiswa, along with Karun Na, took advantage and scored freely. Jaiswal continued to be in good touch and scored another fifty. It seemed that Indfinishedish the session in control, but then Brydon Carse came up with a good delivery to remove Nair. The track has something for the fast bowlers but nothing taxing. There is little swing as well, and batting should become easier with an older ball.
