India captain Shubman Gill on Monday expressed confidence that wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant will likely play the fourth Test at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester following his scan results of his finger injury. Pant had to return to the dugout during the second session on opening day of the 3rd Test at Lords due to his left index finger injury Rishabh went for scans. There is no major injury so he should be fine for fourth Test in Manchester skipper Gill said in the post-match press conference. However Gill didnt confirm weather or not Indias star pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be available for the Manchester Test which is scheduled to start in nine days time. Pant was visibly in pain after diving to his left to stop a delivery bowled down the leg side by Bumrah in the 34th over of Englands innings. Following the incident Dhruv Jurel replaced him as a substitute wicketkeeper. Pant didn’t look in good touch with the bat after sustaining the injury as he was dismissed for a disappointing score of 9 in the second innings at Lord’s. Coming to the match England secured a thrilling 22 runs victory over India at Lords. Despite Ravindra Jadejas brilliant knock of 61 off 181 deliveries India had to face a heartbreaking defea as Indias batting collapsed at 170. While talking about Indias performance at Lords skipper Gill said Extremely proud it was as close a Test match as it can get played over five days and comes down to the last session. I was pretty confident of our chances with plenty of batting left. We needed a couple of 50-run partnerships but we werent able to get that. Gill also mentioned that if Pant had not been dismissed in the first innings. The fourth Test at Old Trafford in Manchester will commence from July 23.
