CLAT 2026: Applications for UG, PG and NLU courses begin, know how many marks are required; see eligibility..

Law Entrance Exam: Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) has started the online registration process for CLAT 2026 from today, 1 August 2025, which will run till 31 October 2025. Interested and eligible candidates can fill out the online application form by visiting the official website consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The exam will be held on 21 July 2025. This exam is conducted for admission to UG and PG law courses in 22 National Law Universities (NLUs) of India.

Eligibility for UG

Students who have passed class 12th or are appearing in class 12th examination in the academic year 2025-26 can apply for CLAT 2026 for the UG course. A minimum of 45% marks is required for General, OBC, Divyang, and NRI category candidates, while at least 40% marks are mandatory for SC and ST category candidates.

Eligibility for PG (LLM) Programme

The PG course (LLM) of CLAT 2026 can be applied by candidates who have an LLB degree or who are studying in the final year of LLB. A minimum of 50% marks is mandatory for General, OBC, Divyang, and NRI candidates, while 45% marks are mandatory for SC and ST categories.

Category-wise information on the application fee
The application fee for CLAT 2026 depends on the category of the candidate and whether they want to buy previous years' question papers or not. Candidates of General, OBC, PWD, NRI, PIO and OCI categories will have to pay a fee of Rs 4,000 if they do not want to take the question paper. On the other hand, if they want to get the question paper, they will have to pay a fee of Rs 4,500.

The application fee for SC, ST, and BPL category candidates is kept slightly lower. If they apply without a question paper, they will have to pay Rs 3,500. Whereas this fee becomes Rs 4,000 if you apply with the question paper. The application fee will be accepted in online mode.

How to apply
First of all, go to the official website consortiumofnlus.ac.in.

Click on the "CLAT 2026 Registration" link and register by entering your mobile number, email ID, and name.

After registration, log in with the help of the login ID and password.

Carefully fill in your details, educational qualification, and course (UG/PG) information.

Scan and upload passport size photo, signature, and other required documents.

Pay the application fee through online mode as per your category.

After checking all the information, submit the form and take a print out of it for future use.
