
The all-rounder Roston Chase performance and Sherfane Rutherford’s blitz have helped the West Indies to secure a five-wicket victory at Trinidad.
After Seales’ impressive spell, the duo’s impressive knocks have secured a 1-1 level in the ODI series of the Pakistan tour of West Indies 2025.
Despite the top order’s failure, West Indies made an impressive comeback with solid knocks in the middle order in the rain affected game.
Batting first, Saim Ayub and Shafique opened the innings while Jayden Seales opened the bowling attack.
With the opener duo made a decent start, Seales dismissed Ayub and Babar Azam for 23 and 0 respectively.
With Shafique’s dismissal for 26 runs, Pakistan lost three wickets for 64 runs. Meanwhile Rizwan lost his wicket for 16 runs.
However, Talat and Hasan Nawaz posted a decent knocks of 31 and 36* runs respectively. With Shaheen’s 11* runs Pakistan went on to score 171 runs in 37 over innings.
Jayden Seales bagged three wickets while Jediah Blades, Shamar Joseph, Motie and Roston Chase picked one wicket each.
In the pursuit of chasing 172 runs, Brandon King and Evin Lewis opened the innings while Shaheen Afridi opened the attack.
After openers got dismissed cheaply by Hasan Ali, Keacy Carty added 16 runs before being dismissed by Abrar Ahmed.
However, Mohammad Nawaz went on to dismiss Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford for 32 and 45 runs respectively.
With Roston Chase and Justin Greaves’ unbeaten 49* and 26* knock, West Indies chased the target in the 33.2 overs and secured a five wicket victory.
Roston Chase was named as the Player of the Match. Speaking on the post match conference, Chase said, “Happy with the win, we had to level the series today. It was a bit difficult to start with the spinners, but I knew once I get in it will be easier.”
“It was also easier to score against the pacers. I loved the shots over extra cover. When he (Greaves) came in, I told him there is time and once you get in, it will get easier to score,” he added.
“Let’s take it from there. I just wanted to keep it tight and get a wicket for the captain,” concluded Roston Chase.
West Indies and Pakistan will play the final game of the series on August 11 at Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
