Actress Manchu Lakshmi recently appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning regarding her alleged involvement in promoting illegal betting apps. The ED's investigation is part of a larger probe into money laundering linked to these apps and Lakshmi was asked about payments and commissions she may have received for endorsing these platforms.
This isn't an isolated incident, as several other celebrities are also under scrutiny. Actors Prakash Raj, Vijay Deverakonda and Rana Daggubati have been questioned in connection with the case. Each of them has provided explanations for their involvement with betting apps.
The ED's investigation involves 29 individuals, including actors and social media influencers suspected of endorsing illegal betting apps. The agency is examining financial transactions and online trails tied to these endorsements to determine the extent of the operation.
Vijay Deverakonda appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning in a money laundering case linked to alleged illegal online betting and gambling platforms. As reported by ANI, speaking outside the ED office, Vijay Deverakonda stated, "This was about something I did back in 2016. On moral grounds, I did not continue with it and I didn’t take any payment either. I gave the officers all the information they needed. As a citizen, I believe in cooperating when the law calls." Vijay also clarified that there was no political motive or pressure involved in the summons.
