Rennes have signed Brest midfielder Mahdi Camara (27), both clubs have announced. The former AS Saint-Etienne midfielder has signed a four-year deal with Les Rouge et Noir. Rennes and Brest previously agreed to a transfer fee in the region of €8m to secure the services of the French midfielder, who underwent his medical this Wednesday.
Nice had expressed an interest in signing Camara as Franck Haise urgently needs midfield reinforcements, as Morgan Sanson is injured and Pablo Rosario is on his way out. However, after Rennes registered their interest in signing the former Brest midfielder, Camara gave his priority to Habib Beye’s side. Camara did originally agree to join Le Gym, but Rennes have swooped in at the final moment to hijack the move.
