Appeal to people to be vigilant and not share their personal information with unauthorized person
Punjab News: The Punjab government has received reliable reports by some private operators allegedly collecting personal information from political parties.
Giving information in this regard, a spokesperson of the Punjab Government here said that it is a punishable offense to collect or use personal information without consent under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). For this reason, the local police have been instructed to take strict punitive action against the persons involved in such illegal activities.
It has also been revealed that many persons who share their information to manipulation of money and OTP. Scams and banking have been made victims of frauds, including cases like misuse. Therefore, the government has appealed to the citizens not to share their personal information with any unauthorized person or agency, as their information can be misused at any level. Citizens are advised to be vigilant and report to the authorities immediately about any such illegal activity.
