The Navi Mumbai Police organized a massive mock drill on Friday (August 24) to strengthen the security system during Ganeshotsav and Eid. The main objective of this exercise was to test crowd management, quick response and coordination between various units. Drilled in many sensitive areas of the city, in which the preparations of the police force were investigated by artificial construction of rioting conditions. Police teams practiced controlling the miscreant crowds, protecting sensitive places and operating the emergency communication system effectively. Authorities also learned the technique of handling the situation without increasing stress using protective equipment and non-fatal methods.

Assistant Police Commissioner (ACP) Budhwant, who is monitoring this exercise, said, “The purpose is to maintain peace and order during Ganeshotsav and Eid. Our soldiers have been trained in such a way that they can take immediate action on any untoward incident and fail any attempt to spoil communal harmony.”

Ganeshotsav starts on August 27 this year and is considered to be the largest public festival in Maharashtra. During this time, lakhs of devotees in Mumbai metropolitan region join the pandals and procession. At the same time, a large number of people gather collectively on Eid. Due to the coincidence of both festivals, the pressure of crowd and traffic is set to increase.

In view of this, the police have already taken steps like route planning, traffic management and additional security deployment. Officials say that such drills instill trust in citizens and ensure that the law and order-handling machinery remains fully cautious and coordinated. The Navi Mumbai Police claims that these precautionary measures will not allow any obstruction of festivals and reverence of festivals and citizens will be able to celebrate the celebration.
