A woman has confessed that her neighbour's "outrageous" nighttime activity has left her worried. Lucy Sharp shared her unusual predicament online, leaving people scratching their heads.

In a candid TikTok video, Lucy expressed her uncertainty over whether to intervene or mind her own business, fearing the situation could escalate. She revealed what she had discovered in her neighbour's garden and voiced concerns about its potential impact on their property and finances.

Lucy lamented the lack of a "first-time buyers' guide" for such issues, prompting her to seek advice on social media. Living next door to someone can indeed lead to all sorts of garden-related problems.

In the video, she said: "It's 11.30pm at night, everyone on the road is in bed, but next-door-but-one's outside tap - it's running, [full] pressure, onto the floor. The water bill is going to be outrageous.

"No one's got their lights on. Do we knock and wake them up, and say 'your outside tap's running'? What are you supposed to do in this situation? So, we're just going to go to bed."

Lucy and her partner then demonstrate themselves heading to bed, conducting research to determine how much their neighbours' running tap might cost overnight. They calculated it could potentially cost between £12 to £26 at full flow, which proved less expensive than anticipated.

The footage has rapidly gone viral, accumulating over 70,000 views since being posted. Hundreds of viewers have also weighed in with their opinions on the situation.

One responded: "Knock, or go turn it off. I would be gutted if someone knew my tap was on, and didn't let me know."

Another commented: "Literally, just knock and say 'your tap is running'. It's not that late, lol." A third added: "This is such a non-issue. Just go and knock the door."

Meanwhile, a fourth stated: "I wouldn't care what time someone knocks my door if it's for something like that."

Someone else contributed: "I would literally not be able to sleep knowing that was happening. I'd feel the guilt of being a bad human."

Whilst some viewers suggested simply switching off the tap, you shouldn't actually take this action without the property owner's consent.

Doing so without their agreement could constitute illegal trespass and breach their property rights. This is precisely why it's crucial to contact the homeowner first before taking action yourself.

You should always consult a neighbour before accessing their property. Should you ever suspect an unauthorised connection on your property, don't hesitate to reach out to your water company for guidance on how to address the issue.
