There were only the (worrying) sounds of silence after the new rechargeable battery a homeowner bought for his doorbell failed to do that and resisted any spark of life. Trying for a refund didn't get far at first either, with Ed Hughes trying to contact the seller Lulili Group.
With a PO Box in Cardiff Ed sent recorded delivery letters to no avail. He had made the purchase through Amazon, but was also informed the marketplace giant, which does offer protections for customers, no longer dealt with Lulili. Checks show its director address is in China and Companies House website now displays an active proposal to strike it off.

So for a while Ed found himself in a wilderness with his rights about a refund all good in theory but far harder to realise in practice.
But nothing ventured etc, so Crusader tried with Amazon and it has now refunded a very happy Ed.
"I probably spent more at first on trying to do the right thing and make sure the company had received my complaint and refund request. This turnaround is very welcome," he reflected when he thanked Crusader and Amazon for our help. [Names has been changed]
