New Delhi: Right-handed batsman Sarfaraz Khan is once again in great form. After being ignored in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England he has now given a befitting reply to the selectors in domestic cricket. Playing for Mumbai against Haryana in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament he scored a brilliant century on Tuesday. Century in 99 balls and strong style In the last session of the first day Sarfaraz completed his century in just 99 balls. He achieved this feat by hitting a huge six to Haryana bowler Ishant Bhardwaj. After completing the century Sarfaraz took off his helmet and enjoyed the applause coming from fellow players and the Mumbai dressing room. However he was eventually dismissed by Parth Vats after scoring 111 runs. Great start to the domestic season This was his second century in this tournament. In the opening match he scored 138 not out against TNCA XI. The special thing was that Sarfaraz was seen batting in an aggressive mood in both the innings. Putting pressure on the opposition bowlers from the very first ball he showed no hesitation in playing his shots. Strong determination despite cramps Sarfaraz was struggling with cramps while scoring a century against Haryana but despite this he did not give up and played another excellent innings and gave a clear message to the selectors. His performance can put selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir in deep thought. Hope of return in Team India Karun Nair and Sai Sudharsan failed in the England series due to which the number-3 and lower middle order positions are vacant. Now it will be interesting to see if Sarfaraz gets a chance in the Test series against the West Indies starting in October. Sarfaraz remained on the bench during the Australia tour Sarfaraz was part of the team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but he did not get a chance to play a single match. Last year he played a brilliant innings of 150 runs in the Bengaluru Test against New Zealand. However after this he could score only 21 runs in the next four innings on the turning pitches of Pune and Mumbai. Career journey So far Sarfaraz has played 11 Test matches for India in which he has scored 371 runs. His average has been 37.10. He also played an innings of 92 runs against England Lions for India A but was later dropped from the team. Story Highlights Sarfaraz Khan scored a century in 99 balls against Haryana. This is his second century in the Buchi Babu Tournament. Despite cramps he gave a message to the selectors by batting brilliantly. Hope to make it to Team Indias playing eleven in the West Indies series.
