Islamabad police have arrested a man named Hassan Zahid on charges of harassment, criminal intimidation, and attempted abduction of popular TikToker Samyia Hijabfollowing a formal complaint and video statement from the content creator.
According to a spokesperson for Islamabad police, the arrest was made after Samyia Hijab submitted a detailed complaint along with a video testimony alleging that Zahid had been stalking and threatening her for several days.
A case has been registered at Shalimar Police Stationwhich includes charges to harassment, attempted abduction, and criminal assault with intent to violate the dignity of a womanamong other legal provisions.
Persistent Harassment and Threats
In her video statement shared on social media, Samyia Hijab revealed that the suspect had been following her for several days and repeatedly tried to coerce her into a relationship by giving her unsolicited gifts.
“He proposed marriage to me,” she said, “and when I refused, he started harassing me and eventually came to my house. He explicitly threatened to kill me if I didn’t agree to marry him. Even before his arrest, he pressured me to withdraw the FIR,” she added.
Attempted Abduction Allegation
In an earlier video, Samiya detailed a disturbing incident where Zahid allegedly showed up at her residence and attempted to abduct her.
“He rang the doorbell, and when the door opened, he tried to forcibly take me with him. He even snatched my phone and got into his car,” she claimed. “As I ran after him to get my phone back, he tried to harass and abduct me,” she added.
Samiya also linked her ordeal to that of her late friend Sana Yousufwho was previously killed in an alleged case of stalking, suggesting a pattern of threats faced by female influencers.
Ongoing Investigation
Police officials have confirmed the suspect is in custody and that the investigation is ongoing. “We are collecting solid evidence to ensure justice is served,” said the police spokesperson. Authorities have assured Samiya of her safety and have emphasized their commitment to protecting women from such criminal acts.
The incident has once again raised serious concerns over the safety of women, particularly public figuresin the digital age.
