Maryam Nafees has made a heartfelt appeal to parents—particularly mothers—urging them not to hire male domestic staff for the care of their daughters, citing serious safety risks.

In a video shared on her YouTube channel, Maryam highlighted the growing concerns around child abuse and emphasized the importance of taking preventive steps at home. The actress said her concern intensified during a recent visit to a clinic, where she had taken her son, Issa, for a vaccination.

“I witnessed something very disturbing,” she shared. “There were two little girls, one around four years old and the other just two, and both were being looked after by male employees. It deeply unsettled me.”

Maryam warned that employing male staff to care for young girls can pose serious dangers. “Unfortunately, many such abuse cases have already been reported in Pakistan,” she said. “The statistics are terrifying—on average, 12 children are sexually abused in Pakistan every single daymeaning one child is victimized every hour.”

She urged mothers to open their eyes to this reality and take proactive steps to protect their children. “This is not paranoia—it’s happening, and it’s happening often,” she added, referencing numerous incidents where male caregivers were found to be involved in child abuse cases.

Maryam emphasized that while not every man is a threat, the vulnerability of young children—especially girls—should never be compromised. “It is simply not worth the risk. No parent should entrust their daughters’ care to male staff members,” she stated.

Her video quickly gained attention online, with many viewers echoing her concerns in the comments. Parents thanked her for voicing an issue that is often brushed under the carpet due to social discomfort or fear of stigma.

“This is something we all needed to hear,” one commenter wrote. “Thank you for speaking up about child safety.” Others praised Maryam for using her platform to raise awareness on such a critical issue.

Maryam concluded her video with a firm message: “Please, for the safety of your daughters—do not hire male domestic workers to look after them. Prevention is better than regret.”

Her appeal adds to the growing conversation around child safety in Pakistan, encouraging families to reassess their household decisions and put children’s well-being first.
