Service was down in July too
Earlier also in July, WhatsApp's service was down globally, due to which users were not able to send messages through the app. Thousands of users had reported the problem of WhatsApp. In July, along with the WhatsApp app, the service of WhatsApp Web was also down.

Why does the service go down?
Social media platforms and websites including WhatsApp, Facebook are usually affected due to server downtime. Especially due to outage in the Domain Name System i.e. DNS server, it affects the services. Apart from this, the service of social media platforms gets affected due to glitches in the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and changes in the configuration of backbone routers.
Apart from all this, services also get disrupted due to Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack. The company has not announced any technical problem at the moment. WhatsApp users will have to wait for some time. They will be able to use WhatsApp web service again only after the services are restored.
