Alan Musk on Sunday defended the fact-checking system of community notes on his social media platform ‘X’. The dispute emerged after criticism by Donald Trump’s associate Peter Navarro for importing Russian oil on India. Navaro alleged that India is buying Russian oil only for profiteering and is putting American jobs in danger.

Musk clarified that “people decide the story” on the platform and the community notes bring all the claims in public in public. they wrote, "Community notes correct everyone without exception. Notes, data, and codes are public sources, and Groke provides further facts." This system ensures that any partial or false information is examined before spreading.

Controversial post of Navaro

Navaro posted on X that India’s Russian oil imports are causing damage to American jobs and it is nurturing Russia’s war machines. they wrote, "Fact: American jobs are ending with the most tariffs in India. India buys Russian oil only to earn profits."

Prevention by fact-checking

Community notes immediately intervened and clarified that India’s oil procurement was for “energy security” and it does not violate international law. It was also told in the notes that the US itself has been importing billions of dollars of goods from Russia, which brings a clear double standards.

Navaro’s answer

Navarro gave the facts given by community notes "Poor note" It was dismissed, saying that India is buying oil only to earn profits. He alleged that India had not bought any oil before Russia’s attack on Ukraine and the ‘spin machine’ of the Indian government is active.

Navarro’s statement against India

This dispute is being considered part of the anti-India campaign of Navaro. In August, the Trump administration imposed an additional 25 percent tariff on India for Russian oil imports, causing the total duty to be 50 percent. Navaro called India as the Maharaja of Tariff and the wash -house of the Kremlin, which was misunderstood by the Ministry of External Affairs of India.

Trump’s tone changed after SCO Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently showed participation with the leaders of Russia and China at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Sangathan, indicating that India had maintained a balance in its strategy globally. Trump later commented that the US had lost India at the hands of China, but immediately turning its claim and asked to maintain a special relationship with India.
