Selena Gomez, the well-known American singer and actress, has admitted that weight problems have troubled her throughout her life. She said these struggles not only affected her physical appearance but also caused her deep mental stress.

In a recent interview, the 33-year-old artist explained that her weight would often change dramatically. The main reason, she revealed, was her medical condition and the strong medications she had to take during treatments. These medicines would cause her weight to increase quickly. But when the treatment ended and the medicines stopped, her weight would drop again.

Selena Gomez confessed that she has always been very sensitive about this issue. She said body shaming deeply hurt her, especially because she had already been living with health- challenges for many years. She admitted that negative comments about her body left her sad and stressed.

This is not the first time Selena Gomez has spoken about her struggles. In 2023, during a TikTok live session, she reminded fans that she was diagnosed with lupus in 2014. Lupus is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the body’s own tissues and organs.

Because of lupus, Gomez had to go through chemotherapy. The treatment caused her weight to rise. Later, she even underwent a kidney transplant. During this period too, her body weight increased, and she once again became a target of body shaming on social media.

The star has often defended herself against such criticism. In 2022, she made it clear to her fans that she is not a model. She said she is perfectly fine with the way she is.

Selena Gomez also stressed the importance of health over appearance. She explained that her medicines are essential for her survival. She added that she believes they are the real reason she is able to continue living and working.
