For a long time, iPhone users had complained that when sending live photos on WhatsApp, they turn into static images or GIFs. Because of this, important things like background audio and natural transitions are not visible. Now, WhatsApp is going to remove this shortcoming with a new update.
How will the new feature work
In the new iOS beta version 25.24.10.72, WhatsApp has released Live Photos support through TestFlight. Now, when users send live photos, they will arrive with full details. A small Live Photo icon will also be seen on the thumbnail.
As soon as the receiver taps on the photo, it will play with dynamic playback. The special thing is that if the receiver saves this photo, it will remain a Live Photo in the iOS Photos app as well.
The gap between iOS and Android is over.
WhatsApp has also removed a major technical flaw with this update. Now Live Photos sent from iPhone will also appear as motion photos on Android phones. Similarly, motion photos sent by Android users will look like live photos on iPhone. This improvement will give users a seamless experience, making it easy and accurate to share content on both platforms.
WhatsApp also added this feature.
It is not necessary to share every moment with sound or animation. Keeping this in mind, WhatsApp has added a toggle option, which will be available near the HD send button in the gallery and drawing editor. With this, users can also send Live Photo as a simple still image if they want.
When will it be publicly released?
Currently, this feature is available for a limited iOS beta testers. However, looking at the initial reactions, it is expected that it will also be rolled out for the public in the upcoming iOS updates.
