Rise and Fall: Sangeeta Phogat breaks down into tears after learning about her father-in-law's demise; leaves the show mid-way

Indian wrestler Sangeeta Phogat , who is one of the contestants on Ashneer Grover hosted Rise and Fall , had to leave the show mid-way as her father-in-law passed away. Sangeeta, who is married to wrestler Bajrang Punia got the heartbreaking news while she was still a part of Rise and Hall. Her father-in-law passed away on September 11, 2025.

A clip from the episode is doing the rounds on social media where Sangeeta is seen crying inconsolably after she learns about her father-in-law's passing. She was informed by the makers of the show and she broke down into tears, leaving the co-contestants worried. They all rushed to console her and she revealed the tragic news. She hugged everyone one-by-one and made an exit from the show.

Arush Bola, a co-contestant on the show said, "Kaafi bura laga jab Sangeeta ji ki aisi news aayi aur unko ghar jaana pada. But kaafi supporting thi Sangeeta ji, badhiya game khel rahi thi. Kaafi strong thi, miss karenge Sangeeta ji ko, bahar jaake try karunga milneki."

Sangeeta's husband Bajrang Punia, shared post on his social media account informing everyone about his father's demise. He wrote, "बापूजी हमारे साथ नहीं रहे. आज शाम सवा छह बजे उन्होंने आख़िरी सांस ली. उन्होंने बड़ी मेहनत से हम लोगों को यहाँ तक पहुंचाया था. वे हमारे पूरे परिवार की रीढ़ थे. समझ नहीं आ रहा कि उनके बिना आगे जीवन कैसा होगा. उनका अंतिम संस्कार हमारे गाँव खुडन में सुबह 11 बजे किया जाएगा. बजरंग पूनिया हरेंद्र पूनिया 🙏🏽."



In the episode, all the contestants from the Workers team were disturbed and worried. On the other hand, after Pawan Singh learnt about the news of Sangeeta's abrupt exit from the show, he requested the makers to allow him to meet the other contestants from Workers team as he was worried about them.

Sangeeta Phogat is the wife of wrestler Bajrang Punia. Bajrang’s father, Balwan Singh , was also a wrestler and served as his biggest inspiration during his formative years.
