Sugandha shakti peeth: The sacrifice of Goddess Sati is an important event in the mythology of Hinduism. When his father Daksha Prajapati insulted Lord Shiva, Goddess Sati humiliated and consumed herself in the Yagya Kund. After his body sacrifice, Lord Shiva became unhappy and started walking in the universe with the burning body of Goddess Sati. To reduce this sorrow of Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu cut 51 pieces of Goddess Sati from his Sudarshan Chakra, which fell in different places. These places are known as Shaktipeeth. Each Shaktipeeth worships a form of Goddess, which represents 51 letters of Sanskrit. Sugandha Shaktipeeth located in Bangladesh is one of these 51 Shaktipeeths. This Shaktipeeth is the place where it is believed that the nose of Goddess Sati had fallen.

Importance of Sugandha Shaktipeeth

Smell Shaktipeeth It is situated on the banks of the Sugandha River in Sonargaon town of Barisal district of Bangladesh. It is considered one of the 51 major Shaktipeeths of Shakti. Here Goddess is worshiped as Sunanda and Lord Shiva is seated with her as Trimbak. Apart from Goddess and Shiva in this temple, there is also a temple of Kalabhairav. Kalabhairava is considered a terrible form of Shiva, which protects power in Shaktipeeths.
