Four people were injured after a train derailed in Cumbria in the early hours of Monday, November 3. Avanti has urged Brits not to travel north of Preston as all lines are blocked following the incident. After the high-speed train derailed and emergency services arrived at the scene, passengers were escorted from the carriages and assisted.

Avanti West Coast said its 4.28am service from Glasgow to Euston came off the tracks at 6.10am near the village of Shap, which is on the West Coast Main Line. The derailment happened between Penrith North Lakes and Oxenholme Lake District stations. All lines between the two stations are now blocked, prompting travel disruption for many.
