New Delhi: In a bizarre case from Pune drew everyone’s attention as the plot of the case was looking similar to the Bollywood thriller ‘Drishyam’ movie. A man, Sameer Jhadhav, allegedly killed his wife, Anjali Sameer Jhadhav, last month and burned her body in a makeshift furnace.

He also visited the police station regularly to simulate disruption and provided misleading evidence. Earlier, he even also messaged another man from her wife’s phone, setting up an extramarital affair storyline.

At last, a police investigation ruined his plan, and he confessed to his crime. He also confirmed that he planned the murder after watching the Bollywood Ajay Devgan starrer Drishyam movie. The murderer also stated that he watched the movie four times before killing his wife.

The accused, Sameer Jadhav, and his wife married in 2017. Sameer ran a garage, whereas his wife was a private school teacher.

Sameer took his wife to the warehouse and pretended to her that he would show her the new godown, and when Anjali entered, he strangled her.

He burned her body in the furnace and scattered the ashes in a river. Their children were on the Diwali holiday, as they were at their native village at that time.

In the initial probe, police saw Sameer as a prime suspect, and the investigation also confirmed that he was in an extramarital affair.

However, Sameer solidified his plan by sending an ‘I Love You’ message to one of his friends and then replying to the message himself.

Sameer was visiting the police station after filing a missing persons’ case and kept anxiously inquiring about the case repeatedly.

“The police eventually cracked the case based on Sameer Jadhav’s consistent questioning, analysis of CCTV footage, and thorough technical investigation. Discrepancies between his statements and the technical evidence led police to call him in for intense questioning, where he finally confessed to the crime and admitted to being inspired by the movie Drishyam,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam stated.

However, his act put him on the suspicion list. A case has been registered against Sameer at the Warje Malwadi Police Station, and now the case has been transferred to the Rajgad Police Station for further investigation.
