NEW DELHI: Rajasthan Royals are reportedly considering trading their captain Sanju Samson to Chennai Super Kings in exchange for all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League.

Samson, who has spent the bulk of his IPL career with the Royals and has led the side since 2021, has been linked with a move after expressing a desire for a fresh challenge following the conclusion of this year’s tournament.

CSK Keen to Rope in Samson

A senior CSK official confirmed the franchise’s interest in the 30-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, who is also a regular in India’s T20I setup. “Everyone knows we are interested in getting Sanju. We have expressed our interest in this trading window. RR is yet to confirm as their management is weighing options. We are hopeful Sanju will play for CSK,” the official said on condition of anonymity.

Jadeja, who started his IPL career with Rajasthan Royals in the league’s first two editions, has been a cornerstone of CSK, even taking over captaincy briefly before the 2022 season. England all-rounder Sam Curran, 27, has featured for CSK and Punjab Kings in past seasons.

For the trade to materialise, both franchises must submit an expression of interest to the IPL governing council. Written consent from the players is also required, after which the final agreement will be ratified by the governing body.
